I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken an interest in my blog. This whole blogging thing has been something new and fun for me. I have had an opportunity to write on a variety of topics that I hope have been either informative or thought-provoking.
I know that I have so much to learn when it comes to having a successful blog. It’s your interest and support that keep me going with it. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
So, what have I learned so far?
For one thing, I know that it takes attention and upkeep. Regular posts can help to keep the interest going. I’ve slacked lately and definitely need to get better about that! 🙂
Posts need to be interesting. And, it helps if they are on topics that are interesting to many vs just a few.
Keep it simple. What I mean by that is that the posts need to be readable within just a few minutes. I have started writing articles for my job and they tend to be longer. But, for a blog such as mine, I’m thinking something along the lines of 500 words is the max.
Images are good! I can say that, for myself, I would much rather check out a post that includes an image or two over one that is just text.
Page layout can contribute to the success of a blog. I certainly don’t want to have to scroll on and on and on to check out posts. Having a layout that you can page through and that has items of top interest viewable on the home page without having to scroll is pretty huge to me.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can help people to find out about your blog when they type keywords into a search. I have been using Yoast SEO which helps with both SEO and readability. It seems that it’s really helped a lot – at least I think it has!
