Springtime. I just love this time of the year. Well, I love it AFTER the pollen is all gone! I love being able to open the windows and let the fresh air into the house. And, I don’t know about you, but I really think that finally being able to sleep with the windows open is amazing because then I get to listen to the sounds of the night…the sound of bullfrogs in the distance has a very calming effect on me for some reason.
Another thing I tend to do in the Spring is to purge my belongings. And, with my recent weight loss, I have a bunch of clothes that are now too big on me. So, now is the time of year when the local donation center can expect to see me driving up with a carload of freshly laundered clothes. There will be other items as well, but it’s mostly clothes.
Some of the clothes have either never been worn or have only been worn once or twice. And, sure I know that I could take them to a consignment shop and get some money for them. But, there’s something about donating that gives me a really good feeling. I like to think that maybe in some small way, I am helping someone else through my donations.
Maybe that business suit will help someone to have the confidence to ace an interview. Or, maybe the pretty top will make someone feel special at a family gathering. I don’t know.
These are the things I think about when I donate. I like to imagine how the things I donate might affect the next person who owns them. And, honestly, my heart becomes full as a result. *smiles*
