How many times have you had a great idea for something to write about, but then when it came to actually writing it out, you just drew a blank? What do you say…
When You Can’t Think of What to Say
I absolutely love writing. And I definitely have had some seemingly great ideas today. I would come up with an idea and then I would think, “Wow, this would make an awesome post.” But, when I got here to my computer, the words just wouldn’t come. I could get as far as coming up with a title and a first sentence, but that’s about it. Have you ever experienced that? I am very sure that I’m not the only person who has drawn a blank after thinking about a seemingly wonderful idea.
So, what causes it? Is it because I have so much going on in my head and yet I need a lasso to wrangle it all together? Or, maybe it’s that I think of something and then a part of me says, “Oh, I’m not sure this would really go over too well with someone who is reading it.” I am quite sure that I’ve experienced both scenarios, and they are equally frustrating.
What To Write About
A few of the ideas that came to me today for blog posts were:
What kinds of surveys people like to take and what encourages them to do so
Dieting and how it can be easy one day and a struggle the next day
Competing your way through life versus taking it as it comes
Research-based writing versus thought-based writing
The pros and cons of enabling comments (or not) on a blog
However, while I was able to get a few words out, none of those ideas ever blossomed into a blog post. Grrrrr. So, here I am, writing about the fact that I’m having a hard time writing. Kinda awkward, huh!?!
What works for you when you have to write (or speak) about something and you just draw a blank? I’d love to hear your ideas!
